Long gone are the days of dodgy 1980's cosmetic tattooing.
Welcome to the new era of 3D cosmetic eyebrow embroidery, the new semi permanent makeup technology that can give you that natural stylish look you're after. What's more, is the amount of time you will save re-drawing your eyebrows. What is 3D cosmetic eyebrow embroidery anyway? 3D cosmetic eyebrow embroidery is a semi permanent technique using colour pigment drawn onto the skin giving you natural looking eyebrows. The technique used is natural feathering of hair like strokes creating a beautifully designed brow. Is this the same as an eyebrow "tattoo"? No. Far from it. The work involved with eyebrow embroidery is only performed on the skin surface. The color can also be adjusted in alignment with the original eyebrow hair color, which results to a realistic look and feel. Eyebrow embroidery creates the background and fills in the parts of the eyebrows that looked empty so that a full and complete look is accomplished. The "3D" effect gives it an added realism to the end result. Unlike an eyebrow tattoo, 3D eyebrow embroidery does not leave a flat, dull and fake look that tattoos leave behind. xx Alana

The Evolution of Cosmetic Tattooing is here.
This particular client has such beautiful brows, although she was tired of penciling in the inner corners, so we simply hair stroked it to blend with her natural hair. The picture was taken immediately after the procedure, which is why it looks a bit darker that what it actually will when it heals. It is important to note that with all permanent makeup, the tattoo will always look about 2 shades darker than the final results once it is healed into the skin. Gone are the days of color blocking, stenciling, and drawn on looking Permanent Cosmetics. Thank goodness. Permanent Eyebrows can be a blessing for women AND for men alike. Imagine going into the bathroom at work and realizing that one of your eyebrows was rubbed off~ or every time you sleep or take a nap, you have to re-draw them on! These are common stories that I hear every week. It is amazing to be a part in the lives of others, and helping them ease their insecurities, stresses, and boost their self esteem! xx Alana First things first: forget about trends & what everyone else is doing. This is the best advice when it comes to sculpting a brow that is perfect for your face & your taste. Trends come & go - but your face has a unique shape that when sculpted right is always timeless and classic. It is important to stick with what comes naturally in order to avoid over plucking your precious brows, and creating an unwanted situation. Tip #1: When you're not sure - don't do it! Trust a professional. Eyebrows can take a long time to grow back in, and some never quite do once we start tweezing them like crazy time and time again. A majority of cosmetic tattoo applications that I do are for women who insist that they made poor brow choices in the '90s by following trends which made them extremely, extremely thin. Tip #2: Work within your natural shape, and where your natural arch lies, and your eyes & brows look stunning. Here is the easiest, most effective blueprint, for your best brow ever: Tip #3: Invest in a high quality eyebrow pencil or gel. By going to a cosmetic counter and asking for help, you have a higher chance of ensuring that you are getting a great color match. Cheap eyebrow pencils can often turn very orange in a short period of time, or in general change color undesirably throughout the day. I have found that the most consistent colors are in organic lines - and not just because I love organic cosmetics :) - but because they are very high quality and made from natural pigments that easily blend with your natural skin tone.
Tip # 4: Remember, you are using your eyebrow makeup to enhance your eyebrow, not to necessarily create a whole new one. Ideally, you are simply creating a shadow effect to give depth. I always suggest that women look into semi-permanent makeup if they feel that they are re-creating their brow shape everyday. This is not only a huge hassle and source of insecurity, but is often hard to pull it off looking natural. Semi-permanent makeup can be an awesome alternative & will look amazing on you. Cheers to your beautiful brows! xx Alana In order to keep your permanent makeup in the best condition, there are a few powerful things you can do to make sure you are getting the most out of your application. This doesn't mean that you won't need a touch-up years later, but it can definitely improve the longevity of your cosmetic tattoo. Remember, every body is different, and the time needed in between touch-ups always varies depending on a variety of factors (the fade time is 1-5 years). Permanent Makeup pigments are different from tattoo pigments- they are iron-oxide based, and designed to gently fade into your skin over time. This fading is actually ideal, as it allows for the technician to make color & shape changes as your coloration and facial structure changes over time. What you can do: 1. Cover your cosmetic tattoo in the sun & in a tanning booth. UV-rays will lighten and fade your tattoo. Wearing brimmed hats & UV-blocking sunglasses while in the sun for long periods of time will help this. It will also be important to invest in an organic sunblock for daily wear. 2. Do not use Glycolic Acid enriched cleansers. Glycolic Acid is a very common ingredient used in face washes specifically targeted for those with an oily skin type. The alternative to this is Salicylic Acid, which is just as awesome and effective. If you love your glycolic acid cleanser, just be extremely mindful to avoid your cosmetic tattoo while washing your face. 3. Pay attention to your diet. Following a healthy diet, rich in nutrients, will help not just keep your permanent makeup looking great, but also your entire body! There is a lot of evidence to support that a diet that is full of alkalizing foods will keep your skin extremely healthy & happy. (See chart below) 4. Be aware that medications can effect the fading of your tattoo. Certain medications will effect the pH balance of your whole body, causing a potential fluctuation in hormones, and other chemical processes: which in turn can affect your skin. Do not stop taking your medication! There is a solution: An effective way to counteract this is to simply incorporate alkalizing, nutritional foods. xx Alana Lash Enhancements are one of my very favorite permanent makeup applications to do for women - simply because it is so subtle, yet makes such a big difference in the appearance of your eyes. The lash enhancement is simply tattooed into the lash line to subtlety enhance. It is not as thick as an eyeliner, so you don't get the obvious "line".
I personally feel that this is a style of permanent makeup that I feel is appropriate for any age. A lash enhancement is more likely to need touch-ups sooner than an eyeliner, but has approximately 5-7 years of wear depending on your lifestyle. xx Alana Color corrections are an essential part of the permanent makeup process. As with all tattoos, fading over the years does occur, and is completely natural (& beneficial) to do so. Ideally, touch-ups should be done approximately every 10-15 years for eyebrows, and every 3-5 years for eyeliner. These time frames are very generalized, as all skin is different. Depending on environmental factors, and your body's chemistry, tattoos will fade at different lengths of time. It is important to educate yourself on the way tattoos will wear in the skin over your lifetime.
Luckily, corrective cosmetics is available, and is often a simple application. If your permanent eyebrows have faded into a base color of either purple, red, or blue, this is very common, and in most cases can be easily corrected. It is ideal that permanent makeup does eventually fade - as this allows the technician to make changes to the color & shape, as your face changes over time. Talking one-on-one with your technician is always the best way to be 100% comfortable in knowing exactly what to expect when it comes to permanent cosmetics. Each week, I see many women whose lives are enhanced greatly by the beauty and luxury of permanent makeup. It is always my priority to keep my clients informed on the realistic exceptions of these applications. It is my hope that you have found this article helpful, and if you have any questions regarding corrective permanent makeup corrections, to contact me directly at info@cosmetictattoostudio.com! xx Alana At AURA, it is our mission to provide you with the very best in luxury cosmetic services - which includes our organic makeup line: VAPOUR BEAUTY. Choosing organic makeup is one of the best choices that I make each day. And no...you don't need makeup to feel beautiful :) But since I do love to wear makeup on a daily basis, I feel great knowing that I am actually working with my skin, and not against it. Organic makeup has significantly changed the appearance and health of my skin for the better. For a long time I didn't wear any makeup due to sensitivities that I was experiencing when I used traditional cosmetics. I had scarring from acne that I thought would never go away. I tried lots of combinations of natural oils and ingredients to help, but it wasn't until I started using organic makeup that my skin really started to change. My organic makeup journey began with a company called 100% Pure. The base of their tinted moisturizer is Aloe Vera, which is full of nutrients that helps to break down scarring, as well as provide a natural anti-bacterial support. Pretty awesome. Within a few months of wearing this consistently, I noticed a dramatic difference in the scarring on my skin. I was ecstatic of this! Especially considering that I had always thought of makeup being generally unhealthy for my skin. I used 100% Pure for years and would still recommend them to anyone looking for an alternative. But while looking for an organic company that offered a wider range of color matches, I stumbled upon VAPOUR BEAUTY ~ and simply fell in love. Besides offering the greatest range of organic color choices, they also have amazing ethic. Their most popular lip color, Honor, is a 100% Proceeds item donated directly to the Cleveland Clinic to support Women's Breast Health Research. Their Facebook page (which I highly suggest you to follow!) is always full of feel good inspirations ~ from food to DIY beauty ideas.
These are just the basics. I also love the way organic companies tend to be smaller, more intimate, and heart-centered. I feel like the products are made with a lot of love & sincerity, simply because if you are looking to only make money fast, there would be much cheaper & easily accessible options in the world of cosmetics today. I love knowing that when I purchase organic-anything, really, that my money is commonly going to passionate people who are making a difference for the better in our world.
Cheers to a happy, healthy you! Inside & out. Xx Alana
